ACT ONE
4.00pm - 4.15pm: All Star Xtreme Cheerleaders
All Star Xtreme Cheerleaders are home to Waikato's top competitive Cheerleading teams, and home to an International Gold Medal. The teams all train hard to compete at New Zealand's largest Cheerleading competitions. The cheerleaders will be performing a number of choreographed dances, cheers and stunt routines for the ASB Nightglow at Waikato University that will get you off your seat and waiting to join in.
4.20pm - 5.05pm: Chatchy
Roots rock band, CHATCHY are a 7 piece collective with a huge live presence; an act featuring catchy hooks, an entrancing horn section, and a dance-worthy rhythm section that gets feet tapping, bodies grooving and heads rocking. The group are at the forefront of an exciting new sound that blends elements of some great genres to create something fresh, exhilarating, and exciting. Chatchy are excited to bring their brand of infectious Kiwi music to the ASB Nightglow at Waikato University.
5.10pm - 5.25pm: Miss Vixation
Professionally trained in Hula Hooping and over 10 years of performing experience. Introducing Miss Vixation. Watch and be dazzled as Hula Hoops are twirled around her body in ways you can't imagine. Twirling up to 10 hoops at once this mind boggling show is one not to be missed. www.missvixation.com
5.30pm - 5.45pm: Flame On
Flame On is a fire dancing entertainment group. We are highly trained and skilled at what we perform and will do any event you can dream of whether its fire, LED, UV or anything else, you dream it, we can do it. Nothing is too big or small, we are all friendly and willing to teach it to anyone who wants to learn, our performance at the Night Glow will include Fire Poi, Fire Staff, Fire Fans, Contact fire as well as Fire Breathing.
5.45pm - 6.00pm: Bunty and Jus's World Record Attempt with Buntercise
Be in front of the stage to participate in Bunty and Jus's attempt to break a World Record.
6.00pm-6.15pm: The Red Checkers
The current Red Checkers team is made up of 5 senior instructors from the RNZAF’s Central Flying School and Pilot Training Squadron. They fly the highly manoeuvrable New Zealand built CT4-E Air trainer and perform a wide range of formation and solo aerobatics. The team’s history can be traced back to the late 1940’s in Wigram, but they have been flying under the Red Checkers name since 1967.
6.15pm - 6.55pm: The Squeeze
Squeeze was formed in 2000 and originally played regularly on the Pub circuit in Hamilton and surrounding districts until mid 2002. It was then decided to specialise in the wedding and corporate market of which they were already a regular feature.
They have perfected a set list to suit all age groups with the majority of our songs being timeless classics from the 70’s and 80’s.
They have entertained crowds at virtually every venue in the Waikato and many more in the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Auckland.
For the Balloon Festival this year Squeeze will be performing their own tribute to 80’s fluff rock from the likes of Van Halen, Poison, Bon Jovi and more?. Just think “Rock of Ages” and you will have an idea of what to expect!
7.00pm - 7.45pm: Phil Madsen
Phil Madsen is recognised for his incredible vocal range and song writing; Phil was an Apra Silver Scroll finalist for his hit single 'Dancing on the Moon' and has shared the stage with Hootie and the Blowfish, Cher, The Pointer Sisters, David Copperfield and The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed regularly at Coca Cola Christmas in the Park.
His live repertoire covers songs from his self-produced album ‘Mr Yellow Tree’ as well as a wide range of popular hits. Phil Madsen’s music is available on iTunes. www.philmadsenmusic.com
ACT TWO
7.45pm - 8.00pm: Inflation & Wai Taiko Drummers
This is what everyone has been waiting for! Inflation Music Begins, following by the Wai Taiko Drummers. The balloons will quietly begin inflating in preparation for the ‘Glow’.Wai Taiko performs the ancient art of Japanese taiko drumming. Combining tribal beats on big drums with mesmerising synchronised movements taiko drumming is music to watch as well as listen.
The Wai Taiko has delighted audiences locally and around the North Island as well as taking poi-taiko fusion to Japan. Also into the mix are blended the ethereal sounds of the bamboo flute, the playful hand-cymbals and the gong which evoke the sound of a Japanese festival in summer. At the ASB Nightglow at Waikato University we will perform a classic set incorporating traditional and contemporary pieces.
8.00pm - 8.20pm: The Glow
ASB Nightglow at Waikato University
The balloons present a stunning light and sound show, featuring the theme of this year under the direction of our Nightglow Producer, Trevor Graham from the UK.
8.20pm - 8.25pm: SmartPC Lantern Lift
A spectacular lantern release from the field, lighting up the dark sky with beautiful soaring red lanterns.
8.25pm - 8.30pm: Fireworks
The Fireworks Spectacular
Waikato pyrotechnic master Dr. Martin Van Tiel creates a magical, exciting and inspiring display to cap off the evening’s entertainment.
ACT THREE
8.30pm - 9.00pm: Phil Madsen
Phil Madsen will give a final performance to round off this awesome evening.
